Senior Tax Compliance Officer

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Tax Compliance Officer to lead and expand our tax compliance team. The successful candidate will manage the full tax compliance function for individual and trust clients, ensuring accurate filing and proactive liaison with SARS.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and collate tax information from clients and third parties to prepare ITR12, IT12, IRP6, and related returns.
• Prepare ITR12, IT12, IRP6 returns and tax computations.
• Reconcile assessments and handle queries, objections and appeals (NOO, NOA, ADR1).
• Apply for tax clearance certificates (good standing, tender, foreign investment).
• Ensure quality control by completing checklists for return reviews.
• Meet yearly KPIs for returns submitted, fees billed and client registrations.
• Register clients for Income Tax with SARS (IT77) and manage estate tax compliance, including registration of estates, pre‑ and post‑date‑of‑death returns, and obtaining compliance letters.
• Monitor individual productivity and achieve agreed productive hours.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification; a tax or related qualification is advantageous.
• At least 5 years of tax compliance experience, preferably with estate tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations.
• Ability to gather information, analyse problems and produce clear reports.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with minimal supervision and manage a portfolio of approximately 300 clients.
• Detail‑oriented with solution‑focused mindset.
