Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the accounting and financial operations of the school, ensuring accurate financial records, timely student invoicing, proper payment allocation, and reliable reporting for strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Assist month‑end closing, prepare balance‑sheet and income‑statement reviews, and produce management accounts.
• Perform bank and loan reconciliations, maintain the Fixed Asset Register, and manage journal entries, accruals and provisions.
• Oversee student account lifecycle in Salesforce, issue invoices, implement collection strategies and ensure financial clearance for graduation.
• Prepare VAT and tax returns, support annual budgeting, forecasting and audit processes.
• Supervise finance team members, develop dashboards, and identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in education.
• Professional designation (SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA) advantageous.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills with proven leadership ability.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Sage/Pastel accounting systems.
• Experience using Salesforce for student account management.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office application skills.
• Knowledge of AI and Business Intelligence (BI) tools is a plus.
