Safari Manager – Mkuze, Kwa-Zulu Natal

About the role

This senior leadership position is based at a boutique game lodge in Mkuze, Kwa‑Zulu‑Natal. The Safari Manager will direct all safari‑related guest activities, blending wildlife experiences, cultural excursions and conservation‑focused tourism while upholding the highest hospitality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise game drives, boat cruises and cultural tours.
• Lead, train and develop the safari and guest‑experience team.
• Manage activity schedules, guest itineraries and inter‑departmental coordination.
• Ensure safety, compliance and risk‑management for all safari operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and deployment of safari vehicles, boats and related assets.
• Maintain hospitality standards and drive sustainable, conservation‑aligned practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Safari Manager or similar leadership role in a lodge or hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership, training and team‑development abilities.
• Excellent understanding of hospitality standards, guest engagement and experiential tourism.
• Valid driver’s licence with PDP; skipper’s licence highly advantageous.
• FGASA qualification or comparable guiding background preferred.
• Solid knowledge of safety, compliance and risk‑management in safari operations.
• Familiarity with sustainability, conservation and Fair Trade Tourism principles.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Valid driver’s licence with PDP
• Skipper’s licence (advantageous)
• FGASA qualification or similar guiding certification
