Relief Cashier (x3) - Beaufort West

About the role

The Beaufort West Municipality's Financial Services department is advertising three positions for relief cashiers (Notice 5/2026). The relief cashier covers the income cashier when they are absent after hours, on weekends or while on leave, attending training or meetings, ensuring continuous service delivery. The salary is R77.46 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Work as a relief cashier in the absence of the cashier in Beaufort West
• Receive payments, issue receipts and update the cash received in the deposit book
• Safeguard cash, receipts and documents in line with control procedures
• Manage general enquiries and report complaints received from the public
• Carry out miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Controller of Income
• Cashiers working after hours must be available to check their takings the next morning with the supervisor before they are banked

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Accounting and Maths or Maths Literacy
• Numeracy skills and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and good interpersonal skills
• Priority given to graduates residing within Beaufort West

Required skills

• Computer literacy with Microsoft Excel and Word
