Audit & Performance Committee Member – Beaufort West Municipality

About the role

The Beaufort West Municipality is seeking one qualified individual to serve on its Audit and Performance Audit Committee for a three‑year term. The committee provides independent advice on financial control, risk management and performance matters to the municipal council and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Review internal and external audit reports and advise on financial control and risk management.
• Assess the adequacy, reliability and accuracy of financial reporting and performance management.
• Provide feedback to the council on auditor findings and investigate financial matters as requested.
• Ensure compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act, Division of Revenue Act and related legislation.
• Contribute to the evaluation of municipal performance and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Understanding of internal and external audit functions, policies and procedures.
• Experience in the corporate or public sector at senior management level.
• Knowledge of law, accounting, corporate governance, human resources and performance management.
• Ability to prioritize the municipality’s interests and maintain high ethical standards.
• Residency within the Beaufort West Municipality and no criminal record.
