General Manager: Financial Services (CFO)

About the role

The Government Printing Works (GPW) is recruiting a General Manager: Financial Services (CFO) based in Pretoria. The post provides strategic leadership for budgeting, costing, management accounting, financial accounting, supply chain management and financial strategy, and leads the modernisation and digital transformation of financial systems. The advertised salary is R1 885 710 per annum (Level 15), all-inclusive.

Key responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, costing and management accounting, including the annual budget, MTEF budget and financial modelling, and oversee costing and pricing systems
• Lead financial accounting, including revenue and expenditure, accounts payable, financial statements and employee remuneration
• Lead supply chain management, asset and fleet management, public-private partnerships, sourcing strategies, inventory control and contract management
• Provide strategic financial advice to the Accounting Officer and Executive Management, and advise on the interpretation of legislation and regulations
• Ensure internal controls, compliance with the PFMA, audit readiness and good corporate governance, and represent the department in audit and governance structures
• Manage human, financial and physical resources, including training, performance management and procurement

Required profile

• A Grade 12 plus a degree (NQF level 8) in Finance or Accounting; CA qualification is an added advantage
• Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in a financial environment at Senior Management Service level
• Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (Nyukela)
• Valid driver's licence

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Public Service prescripts, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations and Practice Notices
• GRAP standards, management and cost accounting, revenue and risk management, auditing and King Report corporate governance
• Vast knowledge of government supply chain management frameworks, policies and processes
