RDA Scientist – Snack Seasonings (Durban)

About the role

The RDA Scientist will lead product development for snack seasonings, with occasional support for other savoury applications. Based in Mount Edgecombe, the role focuses on creating innovative formulations that meet client briefs, deadlines and price targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop products that satisfy customer specifications, timelines and cost objectives.
• Identify market gaps and create competitive product concepts.
• Document ingredients, formulations, processes and testing results for new developments.
• Organise and participate in sensory evaluations and product trials.
• Generate new product ideas and assess feasibility regarding profitability, resources and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain good laboratory practices, including equipment hygiene.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the office or line manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Technology or Microbiology.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in product development or process manufacturing.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Analytical mindset with problem‑solving capabilities.
