Section Manager – Load & Haul

About the role

The Section Manager Load & Haul is responsible for ensuring compliance with legislation, streamlining processes, developing subordinates to competency standards, and achieving section targets within the mining operation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety, health and environmental standards, participate in VFLs and risk assessments, and close out safety actions.
• Execute weekly and monthly mining plans to meet quality and volume requirements while managing resource and equipment utilisation.
• Assist with annual budget compilation, monitor spending, and ensure sound financial practices for cost control.
• Optimise human resources, assess training needs, and implement training plans within authority limits.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to support production targets and customer satisfaction.
• Manage improvement initiatives to meet short‑term and long‑term production objectives and contribute to asset optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and implement measures to prevent incidents and pollution.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (or equivalent) and a relevant B.Eng/BSc Mining degree (Honours advantageous).
• Mining Manager’s Certificate of Competence, A3 Safety Certificate, and SA driver’s licence.
• Open Cast Blasting Certificate preferred.
• 6–8 years of operational experience in the mining value chain, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
