Microbiology Lab Technician – Environmental Monitoring & Aseptic Filling Suite

About the role

A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician to conduct environmental monitoring of its production facilities, including the aseptic filling suite. The role requires at least one year of microbiology laboratory experience and offers the opportunity to support the Microbiological Sciences department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform environmental monitoring of the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and the aseptic filling suite in line with SOPs.
• Accurately sample designated points throughout the manufacturing facility and other areas.
• Operate and maintain environmental monitoring and laboratory equipment, ensuring cleaning, validation and calibration.
• Manage reagents and consumables for monitoring activities, maintaining adequate stock levels.
• Observe safety, health and environmental (SHE) protocols and uphold good housekeeping practices.
• Support the Microbiology team with media preparation, sample labeling, microbial enumeration, report writing and result communication.

Required profile

• Relevant science qualification (e.g., BTech or N Diploma in Microbiology).
• Minimum of 1 year microbiology laboratory experience.
• Experience in aseptic or pharmaceutical environments preferred.
• Willingness to relocate to Durban/Pinetown or already residing in the area.
