SPH Unit Manager – Surgical Ward 1 (Re-Advertised)

About the role

The SPH Unit Manager will lead Surgical Ward 1 at Shifa Private Hospital, overseeing quality nursing care and service delivery within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on capacity building, mentoring, and ensuring compliance with clinical governance and infection prevention standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care aligned with Lenmed’s clinical governance strategy and evidence‑based practice.
• Monitor nursing quality indicators, clinical outcomes and patient experience, and implement group quality initiatives.
• Promote health and wellbeing of patients and staff while adhering to infection prevention and international standard precautions.
• Liaise with public liability regarding incidents of potential risk to the business.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree or equivalent) and registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Unit Manager, compliance with SANC code and applicable health‑care legislation.
• Compulsory BLS certification, midwifery qualification and advanced computer literacy.
