Hospital CEO – Ethekwini Hospital & Heart Centre

About the role

Lenmed is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute executive to lead Ethekwini Hospital & Heart Centre, one of KwaZulu‑Natal’s premier private healthcare institutions. Reporting to the Group Chief Operations Officer, the CEO will be accountable for the hospital’s strategic, operational, financial and clinical performance.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the hospital’s strategy in line with Group vision and healthcare priorities.
• Drive operational excellence, integrating clinical, operational and commercial functions.
• Assume full accountability for the hospital P&L, overseeing revenue growth, cost containment and margin optimisation.
• Champion clinical excellence, patient safety and compliance with governance frameworks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with doctors, regulators, funders and industry bodies.
• Lead talent management, succession planning and organisational culture initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Finance or related field; MBA advantageous.
• Minimum 8–10 years senior management experience in the private healthcare sector, preferably as Hospital CEO or General Manager.
• Proven business, commercial and financial acumen with a track record of managing complex healthcare operations.
• High integrity, strong judgement and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of hospital information systems.
• Experience with ERP platforms.
