Compliance Officer & NPD Technologist – East London

About the role

The premier distributor of healthcare products in East London is seeking a Compliance Officer & NPD Technologist. You will ensure the effective implementation of the New Product Development (NPD) process, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) programme and compliance with regulatory systems such as FSSC 22000, SAHPRA and Halaal certification. The role supports product development, audit readiness and continuous improvement of the Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS).

Key responsibilities

• Implement and review NPD procedures, manage records, product packs, recipes and change‑control processes.
• Support product research, development, reformulation, cost optimisation and scale‑up trials.
• Coordinate label updates, approvals and maintain product documentation.
• Maintain and improve the SQA programme, manage approved supplier lists and onboarding of new suppliers.
• Ensure traceability readiness, support recalls and mock recalls.
• Assist with SAHPRA compliance, Halaal certification processes and audit‑ready documentation.
• Maintain audit readiness for SQA and NPD systems, prepare audit reports and close‑out non‑conformances.
• Identify improvement opportunities within FSQMS, NPD and production and support corrective actions.

Required profile

• Diploma in Food Technology (minimum); preferably a degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field.
• 2–3 years experience in QA and FSQMS administration within Food, Nutraceutical or Pharma sectors.
• 2–3 years experience in New Product Development with proven NPD process expertise.
• Strong knowledge of FSSC 22000 and QA systems.
• Excellent organisational, record‑keeping and attention‑to‑detail skills.
