Business Consultant – Build Your Own Portfolio

About the role

Old Mutual Independent Distribution is looking for a Business Consultant to operate as an independent business owner in Johannesburg. This commission‑based position offers the chance to build and manage a portfolio of independent financial advisers (IFAs) while leveraging the strength of a leading financial services brand.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, develop and grow a network of independent financial advisers.
• Drive production and retention through strong IFA partnerships.
• Identify market opportunities, run targeted campaigns and convert pipelines into revenue.
• Provide advisory support to IFAs, helping them navigate the market and deliver value to their clients.
• Maintain long‑term relationships to ensure sustained business growth.

Required profile

• Experience in long‑term insurance, financial planning or related financial markets.
• Proven relationship‑building and influencing abilities.
• Highly goal‑driven and comfortable working in a performance‑based, commission‑only environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build an independent business.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Tertiary qualification (advantageous but not mandatory).
