Tax Specialist – Tax Administration & Compliance

About the role

Join a reputable medium‑sized audit firm as a Tax Specialist and take charge of tax administration and compliance for a diverse client base. You will work closely with SARS and other regulatory bodies, ensuring accurate filings and smooth client transitions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update ProfTax, capturing and editing client data.
• Perform system updates, year‑end changes, and keep client banking, ID/passport, and public officer details current.
• Register new clients on eFiling, manage deregistrations for Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
• Handle registrations for VAT, PAYE, UIF, COID, RMA, NPO, Customs, and Trusts, and follow up on status with authorities.
• Schedule and attend SARS appointments, resolve queries, and manage correspondence.
• Prepare files for compliance reviews, audits, and generate monthly/ad‑hoc reports.
• Maintain confidential electronic and physical filing systems and support handovers for resigning clients.
• Assist the tax team during peak periods and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a tax administration or similar role.
• Familiarity with South African tax regulations and SARS processes.
• Experience with ProfTax is advantageous.
