SHEQ Manager – Safety, Health, Environment & Quality

About the role

Zibo Containers, a leading manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging, is seeking a motivated and dynamic SHEQ Manager to join our team in Kuils River, Cape Town. The successful candidate will manage and maintain the company’s Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards and company requirements while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and manage BRCGS Packaging Materials and SEDEX certification requirements.
• Manage laboratory activities and ensure compliance with required standards.
• Investigate and manage customer complaints and non‑conformances.
• Coordinate internal and external plant audits and verify corrective actions.
• Monitor budgets and identify opportunities for quality cost optimisation.
• Supervise Quality Controllers, Stock Controllers and Cleaners.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• National Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Food Technology, Food Science, Environmental Health, Safety Management or a related field (advantageous).
• Formal training in HACCP and Internal Auditing.
• Experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment (advantageous).

Required skills

• BRCGS Packaging Materials certification knowledge.
• SEDEX compliance understanding.
• HACCP principles.
• Internal auditing techniques.
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
• Occupational Health and Safety management.
