Regional Organiser – Mpumalanga

About the role

The Regional Organiser will organise and represent workers in the Nkangala region of Mpumalanga, reporting to the Regional Secretary. The role includes recruitment, collective bargaining, branch development and member representation.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and recruit workers within the union’s scope.
• Coordinate collective bargaining and lead negotiations in local companies and institutions.
• Build strong branches, shop steward committees and sub‑structures to provide high‑quality service.
• Train and support shop stewards and office bearers.
• Collaborate with the Paralegal Officer to develop a regional paralegal team for disciplinary cases, conciliation and arbitration.
• Represent members in grievance and disciplinary hearings when needed and refer cases to conciliation/arbitration.
• Submit monthly reports and programmes to the Regional Secretary and PHOSEC.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Qualification in labour law or labour relations (advantageous).
• Experience working in a trade‑union movement.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy, preferably with Microsoft Office packages.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to draft collective bargaining agreements.
