Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Human Resources Manager is an operations role responsible for executing HR strategy aligned with the reserve's mission and values. The position oversees all aspects of HR: talent management, learning and development, performance management, remuneration, employee and industrial relations, employee wellness and payroll management, and contributes to policy formulation as a foundation of good governance for the HR function.

Key responsibilities

• Talent management: manage recruitment, onboarding and induction, maintain recruitment databases, evaluate recruitment agencies annually, champion local hiring and development, and professionalise offboarding with exit interviews
• Learning and development: monitor training needs, support personal development plans, liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour on the Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report, and promote continuous learning
• Performance and remuneration: run bi-annual performance reviews, follow up on poor and excellent performance, support annual remuneration and oversee monthly payroll
• Employee relations: foster an inclusive environment, help resolve disputes with line management, and identify wellness requirements
• HR operations and compliance: ensure compliance with South African labour laws and hospitality/conservation standards, and manage HR data, payroll coordination, benefits and contracts

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience with a good understanding of South African labour laws and best practices
• Experience in the hospitality industry is a distinct advantage
• Culturally sensitive, with strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
• Integrity, discretion and adaptability in remote or challenging settings
