Mechanical Artisan – Hospital Maintenance

About the role

Life Healthcare is seeking a skilled Mechanical Artisan to join the engineering team at Life St George’s Hospital in Gqeberha. The role involves maintaining hospital equipment, plant, buildings and essential engineering services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise mechanical maintenance and repairs across the hospital.
• Maintain plant, equipment and building services, responding to breakdowns and service requests.
• Inspect medical gas alarm and supply systems, and supervise vacuum pumps and medical air compressors.
• Complete job cards, maintenance reports and participate in standby and emergency call‑outs.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified with an N3 qualification and recognised Mechanical Trade Test.
• Relevant mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Leadership and supervisory experience, including managing people, contractors and projects.
• Valid Code 8 driver’s licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
