Training Programme Manager

About the role

The Training Programme Manager will coordinate and deliver training for mental health interventions targeting children and adolescents, supporting the Sue Struengmann Initiative at the Alan J. Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all training logistics, budgeting, material sourcing and payments.
• Deliver evidence‑based programmes such as cognitive behavioural therapy and emotion regulation to stakeholders including health and education departments and NGOs.
• Provide supervision, mentorship and ongoing support to newly trained facilitators and supervisors.
• Liaise with government and non‑government partners to support programme implementation.
• Conduct one day per week of direct service delivery at designated schools or programmes.
• Maintain accurate records of training, supervision and service delivery activities.
• Assist PhD fellows with data collection, management and analysis for the initiative.

Required profile

• Master’s degree and registration as a healthcare practitioner (psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker or medical doctor) eligible to practice in South Africa.
• 2–3 years experience in training and supervising mental health facilitators or service providers.
• Strong facilitation skills for group‑based interventions with adolescents.
• Experience working with government and/or non‑government stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English and either Afrikaans or isiXhosa.
