Handyman – General Maintenance & Technical Support

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Handyman to provide general and technical support across our FMCG plant. The role ensures equipment and plant operate safely and efficiently through routine maintenance, repairs and quick response to issues.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with general and technical tasks to maintain overall equipment effectiveness.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and perform light installations.
• Report any defects observed during normal operations.
• Support tradespeople with electrical, plumbing and HVAC repairs.
• Undertake emergency or ad‑hoc duties as assigned.
• Visually inspect steam valves, header pipes and water‑treatment systems for safe operation.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• 1‑3 years experience in an FMCG environment.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and safe working practices.
• Understanding of food safety requirements and in‑house plant systems.
• Attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and drive continuous improvements.
