Fire Service Technician – SANS 1475 (Nelspruit)

About the role

The Fire Service Technician will install, service and commission fire protection equipment such as extinguishers and hose reels in accordance with South African National Standard SANS 1475. The role involves working on projects of varying size across South Africa and occasionally in Sub‑Saharan Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out neat, correct and timely installation of fire equipment following business and industry standards.
• Ensure installations meet SANS 1475 accreditation requirements.
• Report any on‑site changes to installation instructions promptly to the responsible sales person.
• Identify product faults, recommend repairs and perform necessary servicing.
• Read technical drawings and apply compliant solutions.
• Maintain accurate documentation, test records and handover reports.
• Manage assistants when required and coordinate with sales, commissioning engineers and project managers.
• Monitor stock levels, report material deviations and ensure availability of required items on site.
• Maintain strong customer relationships with commercial clients.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience in fire equipment installation and service under SANS 1475.
• Working knowledge of applicable SANS legislation and SAQCC registration.
• Experience conducting fire risk assessments, audits and due‑diligence inspections.
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Reliable transport, valid driver’s licence and passport.
• Willingness to travel throughout South Africa, Sub‑Saharan Africa and abroad as needed.
