Engineer - Structures, Data Centers

About the role

AECOM is looking for an Engineer – Structures, Data Centers to join its Enterprise Capabilities office in Durban. The role supports both local South African teams and global project teams, delivering detailed structural designs for commercial and industrial data‑center facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural designs and calculations for reinforced concrete and steel structures in commercial and industrial projects.
• Produce and review structural drawings and, when required, create Revit models.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contractors and attend planning, design and site meetings.
• Manage less complex projects and ensure safety and integrity principles are applied.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience designing concrete and steel structures.
• B.Eng. degree (M.Eng. preferred) and strong analytical and commercial awareness.
• Experience leading small design projects and resource planning.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer, ETABS, Robot Structural Analysis, IDEA Statica.
• Knowledge of Revit Structures (advantageous).
• Finite element design of concrete flat slabs.
