Financial Accountant – Johannesburg

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly trial balances and management accounts
• Perform variance analysis and provide insightful financial commentary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain general ledger integrity
• Coordinate month‑end close process, including debtors, creditors, bank reconciliations, inventory, GRNI and fixed assets
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory reporting requirements
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and monitor working capital
• Prepare payment batches and support banking documentation
• Assist with VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions
• Prepare audit files and support external audit processes
• Maintain and improve financial controls, policies and procedures
• Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to the Bookkeeper, Accounts Payable and Credit Control functions
• Assist with finance process improvements and develop team capability
• Support business support and customer service functions where required

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
• Professional registration with SAIPA, CIMA, AGA or a similar professional body
• Post‑articles commercial accounting experience
• Manufacturing or FMCG experience (advantageous)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
