Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Johannesburg

About the role

The organisation seeks an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team in Johannesburg. The CFO will partner with the CEO and senior executives to shape strategy, drive financial discipline and ensure operational excellence across a multi‑site property portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational financial leadership, overseeing Finance, HR, IT and Legal & Compliance functions.
• Develop and monitor KPIs, identify yield‑improvement opportunities and manage cost control to enhance profitability.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, treasury, tax and working‑capital management for a multi‑site environment.
• Oversee property development finance, asset‑management reporting and ESG/sustainability reporting.
• Drive digital transformation, data‑driven decision‑making and cybersecurity governance.

Required profile

• CA(SA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• 15+ years senior financial leadership experience, including CFO or Finance Director roles in asset‑heavy, multi‑site organisations.
• Proven track record in property, hospitality or student‑accommodation sectors, with strong operational finance expertise.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across Finance, HR, IT and Legal at executive level.
• Demonstrated ability in change leadership, governance, risk management and internal controls.
