About the role

Dis-Chem Oncology is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to join its Hopelands, Durban site, focusing on the safe preparation and mixing of chemotherapy medications for cancer patients. The role ensures timely compounding, accurate documentation, and compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and process all prescriptions accurately and within required timeframes to meet patient treatment schedules.
• Prepare and compound chemotherapy medications according to the doctor’s script and product insert, adhering to GPP and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with head office for patient levy collection, invoicing, and payment prior to medication release.
• Ensure required stock is delivered at least one day before treatment and maintain proper storage conditions.
• Monitor stock levels, report short‑dated items, and manage waste disposal in line with South African Pharmacy Council guidelines.
• Support site staff during adverse reaction incidents and keep clinicians informed of product shortages.

Required profile

• Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Proven experience in chemotherapy preparation and mixing.
• Strong knowledge of oncology protocols and safety procedures.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
