Value Engineer

About the role

The Value Engineer supports initiatives that improve the function‑to‑cost ratio of products, processes, systems and technologies across the Shoprite Group. Working within an industrial‑engineering support capacity, the role analyses operations, identifies improvement opportunities and contributes to projects that increase efficiency, reduce costs and optimise resource use.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and analyse operational data to identify cost‑saving and performance‑enhancing opportunities.
• Document existing processes and develop detailed improvement options.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to evaluate and implement value‑engineering solutions.
• Prepare recommendations and reports that strengthen operational performance and reduce risk.
• Support the Value Engineering team in delivering “more with less” outcomes for the organisation.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable improvements.
• Excellent communication skills for documenting processes and presenting recommendations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Interest in industrial engineering, cost optimisation and operational excellence.
