Unit Manager - Cardiac ICU

About the role

This position offers an experienced nursing leader the chance to manage a specialised Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Centurion, Gauteng. The Unit Manager will ensure the delivery of safe, high‑quality patient care while providing strong clinical and operational guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily nursing activities within the Cardiac ICU.
• Maintain compliance with professional, ethical and clinical nursing standards.
• Monitor patient care, ensuring appropriate nursing practices are followed.
• Lead, mentor and develop nursing staff to maximise performance.
• Organise staff training, capacity‑building and development initiatives.
• Foster multidisciplinary collaboration with doctors and other healthcare professionals.
• Manage unit resources and participate in quality‑assurance programmes.
• Support hospital and departmental objectives and ensure adherence to healthcare legislation.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Post‑basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing (essential).
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing Management (advantageous).
• Previous experience in a Cardiac ICU or specialised intensive‑care setting.
• Prior unit manager or supervisory experience in a private hospital.
• Strong clinical leadership, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
