Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a psychiatric background to join our specialised inpatient treatment and rehabilitation centre in the Garden Route. The role involves delivering comprehensive, patient‑centred care to individuals dealing with addiction, substance abuse, eating disorders and co‑occurring mental health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full‑shift nursing care to patients, including night rounds.
• Administer, dispense and order medication in line with clinical protocols.
• Monitor patients, respond to medical and nursing needs, and complete accurate clinical notes using an electronic system.
• Supervise and coordinate 2–3 carers during each shift.
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
• Take initiative in patient care decisions and contribute to a positive learning culture.

Required profile

• Valid Registered Nurse qualification and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Demonstrated psychiatric nursing experience or qualification.
• Previous inpatient experience, preferably in private healthcare.
• Experience working with substance abuse, addiction and eating disorder patients.
• Excellent command of English and strong communication skills.
