Provincial Clinical Programme Lead – Integrated Postnatal Care

About the role

The University of Pretoria seeks a Provincial Clinical Programme Lead to drive the implementation and scale‑up of Integrated Postnatal Care across two to three provinces. This one‑year renewable, Level 7 position will provide clinical and technical guidance, capacity building and quality improvement to embed maternal and infant services within routine child health programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with provincial and district health stakeholders.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, facilitate meetings and represent the programme at provincial forums.
• Provide clinical and technical support for integrated postnatal services, including maternal‑newborn care, HIV, TB, STI and non‑communicable disease interventions.
• Mentor provincial teams, monitor performance and drive continuous quality improvement.
• Develop and implement clinical and operational tools to strengthen service delivery.
• Act as the primary liaison between the central project team and provincial/district partners.

Required profile

• Medical qualification in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or Paediatrics (one position reserved for a Paediatric specialist).
• Proven experience in provincial or district health programme implementation.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to travel within assigned provinces and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
