Therapy Manager – Acute Rehabilitation Unit

About the role

The Therapy Manager will lead the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at eThekwini Hospital & Heart Centre, overseeing high‑quality therapy service delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate therapy services and resources within the unit.
• Lead therapists, ensure safe and high‑quality service delivery, and conduct quality care rounds and clinical audits.
• Plan, coordinate and facilitate rehabilitation services to achieve clinical and functional outcomes for in‑patients.
• Maintain staff competence, provide training on equipment, and ensure all therapists are registered with the HPCSA.
• Identify safety risks, implement corrective actions, and drive best operating practices.
• Participate in financial planning, budgeting and cost management for therapy equipment and services.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including doctors, patients, families and service providers.

Required profile

• Relevant health professional qualification with registration on the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• 3‑5 years of clinical experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Compulsory BLS certification and good standing with all applicable health legislation.
• Experience managing a unit is advantageous.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and work within a multidisciplinary team.
