Tax Accountant – Professional Practice (Cape Town)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established accounting and tax practice in Cape Town CBD, is seeking a dedicated Tax Accountant to join a small, professional team. The role is full‑time, onsite, with flexible start‑times and an immediate start date.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge Income Tax, Provisional Tax, VAT, PAYE and other SARS returns for individuals, trusts and companies.
• Correspond with SARS on verifications, objections and queries, including dispute resolution.
• Assess client tax positions, identify risks and opportunities, and provide advisory support.
• Compile management accounts and annual financial statements where required.
• Handle bookkeeping, accounting queries and client correspondence professionally.
• Maintain a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries and ensure compliance deadlines are met.

Required profile

• Based in Cape Town with daily commute to the CBD office.
• At least 6 years of practical experience in an accounting/audit/financial firm.
• Registered or eligible for SAIPA, SAIT, AGA(SA) or CIMA.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans.
