Solution Architect – SAP Production & Quality (Contract, Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead architecture activities across a portfolio of production and quality initiatives. The role combines solution architecture, business analysis, technical governance, vendor engagement and project delivery to support large‑scale enterprise transformation programmes spanning SAP, manufacturing, laboratory systems and AI‑enabled solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for production and quality initiatives, translating business requirements into conceptual and high‑level designs.
• Produce implementation‑ready architecture artefacts, technical documentation and integration approaches across SAP, LIMS, middleware and enterprise platforms.
• Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture, security, governance and compliance standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, enterprise architects, security, integration and development teams.
• Evaluate technical solutions and vendors through RFIs, RFQs and proof‑of‑concept activities.
• Develop architecture diagrams, Statements of Work, Product Definition Documents and non‑functional requirements.
• Identify technical and delivery risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical leadership during build, testing, deployment and transition to support.
• Contribute to architecture standards, reusable assets and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Solution Architect in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of production and quality business processes, especially in manufacturing.
• Proven experience designing enterprise solutions that integrate SAP Production Planning (PP) and Quality Management (QM).
• Experience with integration of operational systems such as LIMS and middleware platforms.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model with frequent on‑site presence and occasional travel to South African sites.
