Associate AI Solutions Engineer

About the role

You will join the AI Solutions team at Sanlam Life & Savings, working on data‑driven and GenAI‑powered solutions. The hybrid role combines elements of machine‑learning engineering, DevOps and AI engineering, and offers a structured growth path from junior to senior levels.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in data preprocessing, feature engineering and contribute to shared feature stores.
• Support building, tuning and evaluating ML models using Scikit‑learn and PyTorch.
• Gain exposure to LLM fundamentals, prompt engineering and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation patterns.
• Help build and maintain ML pipelines, training, deployment and monitoring on AWS.
• Work with AWS services (S3, EC2, Lambda, IAM) and Docker containers to support deployments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, version‑controlled workflows and Infrastructure‑as‑Code concepts.
• Write clean, testable code, participate in code reviews and ensure MLOps hygiene.
• Continuously learn new tools and trends across ML, GenAI and cloud engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
• Foundational programming experience in Python (object‑oriented, readable code).
• Basic exposure to SQL, R or Java is advantageous.
• Understanding of databases and querying.
• Awareness of AWS core services and cloud concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Curiosity, creativity, persistence and adaptability.
