Service Technician – Wind Farm (Noblesfontein)

About the role

Vestas is seeking a motivated Service Technician to join the on‑site team at the Noblesfontein Wind Farm in the Northern Cape. The role involves performing intermediate‑level maintenance and installation tasks on V100 Mk 7 turbines, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the 73.8 MW facility.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety standards, act as a safety role model and intervene when unsafe acts occur.
• Identify safety gaps, implement risk mitigation measures and provide recommendations to senior technical staff.
• Perform intermediate wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, using specialized calibration, hydraulic and power tools.
• Document work activities and enter data into SAP.
• Gather turbine performance information, diagnose routine issues and recommend solutions.
• Seek assistance for complex problems and follow structured troubleshooting processes.
• Mentor lower‑level staff, support team initiatives and promote continuous improvement.
• Interface with customers, respond to inquiries and maintain a strong customer focus.

Required profile

• Electrical or mechanical background with a genuine interest in renewable energy.
• Commitment to safety, integrity and high‑quality workmanship.
• Ability to work on‑site at a remote wind‑farm location.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to seek guidance when needed.
