About the role
The General Assistant supports the truck operator by moving bulk products from silos to the blasting face and helps maintain a safe, efficient work environment at the BME Gamsberg site.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the truck operator in collecting products from silos and delivering them to the blasting face.
- Perform housekeeping and routine maintenance of the vehicle and surrounding work areas.
- Carry out risk assessments and safe‑work declarations with the blaster before entering the work zone.
- Help charge blasting holes and load the Mobile Mining Unit (MMU) with the required products.
- Collaborate with the blaster to inspect the site, mark the working area, and erect prescribed barricades.
Required profile
- Willingness and ability to work safely in a mining environment.
- Commitment to follow all statutory, legal, client and BME safety and operational standards.
- Physical capability to handle manual tasks and operate equipment in outdoor conditions.
- Reliability and punctuality for shift‑based, on‑site work.
