Service Technician – On‑site at Njoli Wind Farm

About the role

Vestas is seeking a motivated Service Technician to join the on‑site team at the Njoli Wind Farm in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The role involves performing intermediate‑level maintenance and installation tasks on 44 V100‑MK10B 2 MW turbines, ensuring safe and reliable operation of the 88 MW wind farm.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety standards, act as a safety role model and intervene when unsafe acts occur.
• Perform intermediate wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, including the use of specialized calibration, hydraulic and power tools.
• Document work activities and enter data into SAP.
• Gather turbine performance information, diagnose routine issues and implement solutions.
• Use diagnostic equipment such as Fluke meters and hydraulic pressure gauges to troubleshoot.
• Mentor lower‑level technical staff and support team collaboration.
• Interface with customers, respond to inquiries and refer complex issues to senior staff.

Required profile

• Electrical or mechanical background with a strong safety focus.
• Demonstrated integrity, initiative and a commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work independently on‑site and follow structured problem‑solving processes.
• Willingness to support change initiatives and suggest process improvements.

Required skills

• Wind turbine maintenance (intermediate level).
• Operation of specialized calibration tools.
• Hydraulic tools operation.
• Power tools operation.
• Data entry and documentation in SAP.
