Senior Site Engineer – Luxury Villa Construction (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking a capable and hands‑on Senior Site Engineer to lead the construction of a high‑end luxury villa in Cape Town. The role serves as the primary link between our remote design and project teams and the day‑to‑day site activities, ensuring quality, compliance, schedule and budget are met.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all on‑site activities, ensuring full compliance with local building codes, safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and proactively address safety or quality concerns.
• Ensure construction follows approved project plans, drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and Head of Construction to execute the construction plan, manage schedules, allocate resources and oversee material procurement.
• Maintain high standards of quality control, guaranteeing workmanship reflects the design detail and craftsmanship.
• Monitor site‑level construction expenses, align them with the approved budget and identify cost‑effective solutions.
• Coordinate subcontractors, skilled labour and on‑site teams to sustain workflow and foster a collaborative environment.
• Step in for the Head of Construction when needed, attend meetings and contribute to key decisions.
• Act as the main point of contact between the construction site and the wider project team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture (post‑graduate studies in Construction Management preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction site roles such as Inspector, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Site Supervisor, Assistant Project Manager, Construction Manager or Superintendent.
• At least three full‑cycle projects completed in South Africa, preferably in tourist regions.
• Proven track record in luxury villa or high‑end residential construction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve technical or logistical challenges.
• Strong knowledge of South African building codes, regulations and construction practices.
• Fluent English for communication with international management and site teams.
