Professional Engineer / Technologist – Urban Development

About the role

The position is a senior design engineer/technologist role supporting municipal projects within the Buildings and Cities function. The role involves project management, civil design, documentation, construction supervision and project close‑out, reporting to the Section Manager or other appointed supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Produce design deliverables using CAD and civil design software with minimal supervision.
• Organise information and communicate design intent through accurate drawings.
• Take ownership of work, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
• Train technicians and junior staff on relevant software tools.
• Supervise and review work of team members to maintain quality.
• Inspect constructed works for compliance with design specifications and propose remedial actions.

Required profile

• BSc/BTech degree from an accredited university or college.
• Professional registration (Pr Eng/Pr Tech) is required.
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients and project stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Civil Services Design software.
• Strong CAD drafting skills.
• Understanding of the design process and translation of designs into deliverables.
