Business Unit Manager – Gauteng

About the role

V3 Consulting Engineers is looking for a dynamic, results‑driven Business Unit Manager to lead its Gauteng Business Unit based in Pretoria. The role combines operational leadership, technical delivery, and business development within the engineering and built environment sector.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the overall operations and profitability of the Gauteng Business Unit
• Leading multidisciplinary teams and managing project delivery
• Driving business development and client relationship management
• Ensuring financial sustainability and budget management
• Managing contracts, risk, compliance, and quality systems
• Overseeing project implementation and technical delivery
• Mentoring staff and promoting skills development
• Supporting strategic growth initiatives within the business unit

Required profile

• Hold a BSc/BEng/BTech in Engineering or a degree in the Built Environment field
• Professional registration as an ECSA Professional Engineer/Technologist, SACPCMP Project Manager, or equivalent built‑environment registration
• 8–10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in middle management and 3–5 years in senior management
• Excellent interpersonal and people‑management skills
• Strong leadership ability and experience working in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams
• Enthusiasm for improving safety performance on site
• Financial management and business sustainability experience
• Business development and stakeholder‑engagement capability
• Sound knowledge of construction industry regulations and contracts
• Project and programme management expertise
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills
• Strategic planning and operational management capability
• Strong technical and commercial acumen
