Senior Project Manager – Construction & Development

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of new store outlets across Gauteng East, Limpopo and selected African territories. You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee project managers, ensuring status meetings are effective and results‑driven.
• Apply core project management principles: integration, scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communication, risk, procurement and stakeholder management.
• Investigate and resolve supplier and contractor complaints, implementing corrective actions.
• Participate in supplier onboarding and ensure appropriate contractors are selected.
• Coordinate hand‑overs so stores become fully operational at opening.
• Drive completion certificates within 42 days to minimise retention holds.
• Conduct post‑mortems and follow up on recommendations.
• Document site meetings professionally and ensure critical issues are addressed.
• Manage human capital of project managers, including PDPs and upskilling.
• Ensure OHS compliance, appoint safety consultants and audit contractor performance.
• Secure final brand approvals for store design, layout and image.
• Liaise with finance for project accounts, invoicing and reconciliation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing construction projects for retail outlets.
• Strong knowledge of the full suite of project management disciplines.
• Ability to manage supplier and contractor relationships and resolve issues.
• Experience ensuring OHS compliance and safety standards.
• Effective coordination with operations, training, services and finance teams.
