Senior Process Engineer

About the role

Vela Personnel is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design of process plants for mine development projects. You will ensure technical compliance, capital efficiency, and schedule adherence while collaborating across multiple project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define process requirements in consultation with project teams.
• Develop test‑work programs, scope of work, and detailed schedules for the execution phase.
• Create process flow diagrams, mass, water and energy balances, and operating cost estimates.
• Produce P&IDs, operating manuals, and control philosophies.
• Participate in plant layout and mechanical design reviews.
• Identify process risks, propose mitigation strategies, and report on test‑work results.
• Commission new plants and equipment, monitoring financial performance and cost‑saving opportunities.

Required profile

• Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of combined operational and design experience in mining or metallurgical environments.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, deliver results and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with clients, management and project staff.
