Senior Economic Development Officer

About the role

Kouga Local Municipality is seeking a qualified Senior Economic Development Officer to lead and coordinate SMME economic development activities, support local business growth and contribute to the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and evaluate SMME economic development programmes, maintaining a reliable LED database.
• Assess local economic development project proposals, conduct feasibility studies and prepare recommendation reports.
• Facilitate training, mentoring and market linkage for SMMEs, and monitor project progress and expenditure.
• Develop and implement intervention plans, operating procedures and stakeholder workshops to drive economic growth.
• Prepare business plans, progress reports and presentations for senior management and external partners.

Required profile

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Business Administration, Economics or Development Studies.
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience in local economic development.
• Code 8 driver’s licence and proficiency in at least two official languages (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa).
• Strong knowledge of LED planning, research and analytical methods.
• Excellent communication, report writing and presentation abilities.
• Attention to detail and good supervisory skills.
