Senior Audit, Finance & ICT Roles – Ba‑Phalaborwa Municipality

About the role

Ba‑Phalaborwa Municipality is seeking experienced and dynamic professionals to serve on its Audit Committee, assume the Chief Financial Officer position, and chair the ICT Steering Committee. These senior roles support municipal governance, risk management and financial stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Review and monitor implementation of the Risk Management Framework, COSO and EWRM models.
• Advise the council on financial matters, budgeting, treasury operations and compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
• Ensure internal controls, audit processes and ICT governance are aligned with statutory requirements.
• Oversee preparation of financial statements, budgetary controls and reporting to the Accounting Officer.

Required profile

• Minimum 6‑8 years of senior‑level experience in risk management, internal audit, finance or ICT governance.
• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, Computer Science or related field and membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CA, CIA, CISA, ITIL).
• Proven experience serving on audit committees or senior finance/ICT leadership roles.
• Willingness to undergo security clearance and comply with MFMA, Treasury and Public Sector Risk Management Framework.

What we offer

• Contractual appointment for a three‑year term (maximum three committee memberships).
• Remuneration package ranging from R894 447 (minimum) to R1 133 463 (maximum) per annum.
