Senior Accountant / Finance Operations Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant / Finance Operations Lead to own and drive the financial operations of a fast‑paced retail business. The role will manage the general ledger, inventory accounting, reconciliations and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the integrity of the Xero general ledger and perform bank, Yoco and other payment platform reconciliations.
• Manage inventory accounting between Cin7 and Xero, including stock movements, landed costs and cost of sales.
• Reconcile sales data from Shopify, Cin7 and payment platforms.
• Oversee debtor, creditor and supplier reconciliations and prepare payment schedules and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports, inventory ageing, gross margin and stock analysis.
• Ensure VAT, payroll taxes and statutory compliance in line with South African standards.
• Strengthen financial controls and resolve discrepancies.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting qualification with SAICA or SAIPA articles (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in a senior or financial accountant role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Xero and inventory management systems such as Cin7.
• Retail, wholesale or inventory‑focused industry background.
• In‑depth knowledge of VAT, payroll taxes and South African accounting standards.

Required skills

• Xero accounting software.
• Cin7 (or similar) inventory management system.
• Reconciliation of Yoco, PayFast, Peach Payments or similar payment platforms.
• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
