Semi-retired Diesel Truck Technician – Final Inspection Quality Controller

About the role

This permanent position is for an experienced diesel technician or workshop foreman who will lead final inspections of commercial trucks across multiple South African regions. The role is ideal for a semi‑retired professional who wants to stay active in the industry while applying decades of practical knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct final quality inspections on all repairs, servicing and maintenance of commercial trucks.
• Perform diagnostic checks and road‑tests to confirm safety, reliability and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Identify incomplete repairs or poor workmanship and return vehicles to technicians for corrective action.
• Maintain detailed inspection reports and support workshop efficiency by reducing re‑work and customer comebacks.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to workshop staff and assist with advanced diagnostics on difficult jobs.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with a qualified diesel trade qualification.
• Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence; PDP preferred.
• 10–20 years post‑trade experience in commercial truck workshops, preferably dealership experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability, computer literate and familiar with Dealer Management Systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, good communication in English and preferably Afrikaans.
