Section Engineer – Mineral Processing Plant

About the role

The Section Engineer will lead engineering activities on a mineral processing plant, ensuring compliance with legal standards, improving equipment reliability and maintaining mechanical and electrical integrity. This role involves directing maintenance, planning production activities and upholding SHEQ policies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate inspection lists, delegate duties to the Engineering Foreman and maintain legal engineering records.
• Conduct audits, inspections and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions as required.
• Manage asset lifecycle tracking, planned maintenance scheduling and breakdown reporting, generating reliability metrics such as MTTR and MTBF.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards, safety procedures and PPE requirements, and inspect work to meet client specifications.
• Lead the engineering team, handle disciplinary actions, drive training and performance management, and support career development.
• Liaise daily with plant foreman and process manager on breakdowns, availability, budget and authorisations; run regular maintenance meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering management within a mineral processing or similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of MHSA regulations, SHEQ compliance and legal engineering documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance and conduct training.
• Excellent analytical skills for reliability analysis and audit reporting.
