Radiology Receptionist

About the role

A busy radiology practice in Midrand, Gauteng, is looking for an experienced, patient-focused receptionist. The role welcomes patients, manages reception and administrative processes, confirms medical aid benefits and ensures patients are assisted efficiently throughout their visit. It is a permanent position advertised by Medical Resources Group on behalf of its client.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, direct them to radiographers and sonographers, and handle enquiries while keeping accurate patient records.
• Capture patient details and procedure information on the practice management system, including identity numbers, contact details, addresses and medical aid details.
• Confirm medical aid benefits and membership status, liaise with the authorisation department and escalate discrepancies.
• Collect co-payments and private patient fees, issue receipts and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Work with doctors, radiographers, sonographers, billing staff and typists to keep information flowing smoothly.
• Follow practice protocols for referrals, appointments and patient administration, and maintain a professional reception environment.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• At least 3 years of customer service or receptionist experience in the medical industry.
• Substantial experience in radiology reception and understanding of radiology workflows.
• Experience confirming medical aid benefits, checking membership status and verifying patient cover.
• Willingness to work rotating weekday shifts (07:00–15:00 to 10:00–18:00) and alternating weekends.

Required skills

• Experience with PACS and HIMS systems; familiarity with Pantheon practice management software is advantageous.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 codes.
• Accurate data capturing, strong administrative and organisational skills, and excellent communication in English.
