Professional Nurse - Obstetrics and Gynaecology

About the role

Mediclinic Kloof in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, is recruiting one Professional Nurse for its Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The nurse works with a multi-professional team to deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care within their scope of practice, leads and coordinates nursing teams and enables optimal patient care. The position is on-site and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all used stock and equipment are accurately charted

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse, or a 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing
• Desired: Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery, or a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g. Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri-operative Nursing) if placed in a specialist unit
• No minimum experience required

Required skills

• Basic life support (ACLS); ATLS and PALS training for specialised wards
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• Nursing care planning, nursing processes and procedures, and nursing record keeping
• Patient assessment, pharmacology and infection prevention and control
• Risk identification and knowledge of relevant nursing legislation
