Operating Department Assistant

About the role

Mediclinic Durbanville Day Clinic is recruiting one permanent, on-site Operating Department Assistant. The role functions as a scrub practitioner, circulator and anaesthetic assistant under the indirect supervision of a professional nurse, and provides assistance in the recovery room under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, quality patient care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with theatre standards
• Ensure effective peri-operative preparation for an allocated theatre list
• Follow infection prevention and control principles to reduce clinical risk
• Use equipment and pharmaceutical stock efficiently to minimise financial risk

Required profile

• Essential: Operating Department Assistance Diploma
• No experience required; preferred education listed as none
• Applicants are considered against the Employment Equity Plan, with preference for internal applicants meeting the minimum requirements
