Clinical Specialist - Allergan Aesthetics
AbbVie · Midrand
Job description
About the role
Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, develops and supports medical aesthetics products and professional education for healthcare professionals. The Clinical Specialist is a field-based, healthcare-professional-facing education role within the Allergan Medical Institute (AMI), working mainly in aesthetic clinics. The specialist helps healthcare professionals turn formal AMI learning into everyday clinical practice through structured, one-to-one facilitation, needs assessment, coaching and follow-up. It is not a patient-treating or product-sales position: the healthcare professional keeps full clinical judgement and responsibility for patient care. The role also supports AMI educational events and requires regular local and national travel.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver in-clinic services: identify each HCP's educational need and build a bespoke AMI Infinity curriculum-aligned facilitation pathway, focusing on beginner and intermediate HCPs, with about 30 clinics supported overall.
- Guide HCPs through the AMI Digital World digital learning channel to improve clinical knowledge of the products.
- Follow up reliably and in time after each interaction, and record all activity in VEEVA CRM so KPIs can be monitored.
- Support the AMI Lead with affiliate-level AMI events and operational tasks, such as attending conferences, workshops and the MD Codes Mentee Programme, and developing and approving educational content.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in medical sciences, health sciences or another clinically based discipline (medicine, nursing, dentistry, physiotherapy or clinical pharmacy).
- Minimum of three years of surgical or procedure-based clinical experience.
- Demonstrated interest in medical aesthetics; previous experience in facial aesthetics or an aesthetics-related clinical setting is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Regular travel, including 50% of the time locally, nationally and potentially internationally, with some overnight trips and occasional weekend work.
Required skills
- Intermediate skills in PowerPoint and Excel; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is listed as additional.
- Experience recording activity and managing follow-up in a CRM or comparable system.
- Confident business English and strong written and verbal presentation skills.
- Advantageous: facilitation, training or coaching experience, event management, and experience in the pharmaceutical or medical-device industry.
